The GOP may save itself, long-term, by actually acting upon the kind of reflective self-criticism that was part of their post-2012 "autopsy." Doing that is going to be a struggle, though, as it will mean purging the party of some of its most loyal-but-cancerous elements. Thus, there will be short-term defeats.
